Four Of The Best Cartoons Ever Made

Cartoons are something that all children of the television generation have grown to love and remember. We all have our favorites and there is no real “best cartoon” category when it comes to choosing which is better than which. But over the years the world has come to recognize some classic animation flicks and strips to be the most remembered and influential. Here is a short list of a few of those best cartoons and episodes that will never be forgotten. One or more of them have probably found their way to your personal list as well.

• Bad Luck Blackie – An MGM cartoon, this cartoon classic depicts the character of a small cat who is terrorized by a large bulldog. One day, the cat meets a black cat who actually gives bad luck as a service for the ones who need it. So the little cat does take advantage of this service and whenever the bulldog attacks, the bulldog is attacked in return with a serving of very bad luck.

• The Great Piggy Bank Robbery – This Warner Brothers offering was a short feature that was released way back in 1946. It stars the ultra famous Daffy Duck who wishes that he could be just like the great detective Dick Tracy. One day as he imagines himself in the shoes of the detectives, he knocks himself out and starts to dream that he is Dick Twacy. He then goes on to search for criminals with Porky Pig as his driver. The only reason he is behind such heinous criminals as Mouse Man and Rubberhead (a play on characters from the actual Dick Tracy criminal list), is because they rob a bank; only this bank is where Daffy deposits his money too. Hilarious and a classic, this episode is remembered still today.

• Popeye Meets Sindbad – Released in theaters in 1936 by Paramount Pictures, this Max Fleischer production stars Popeye the sailorman as he comes across Bluto who claims to be the greatest sailor in the world. Bluto calls himself Sindbad the Sailor and of course Popeye will have none of the claims of the man being more than an ordinary sailor. In this feature, Sindbad kidnaps Olive Oyl (Popeye's girlfriend) and almost overpowers Popeye. Popeye then manages to get a can of spinach that gives him the strength to beat Sindbad.

• The Skeleton Dance – If you haven't seen this cartoon, as an animator you really should. It's groundbreaking in entertainment and in the style of cartooning that it introduced to the world in 1929. This was a short cartoon done by Walt Disney. It was first featured in the Silly Symphonies series but it was far from being just silly cartoon. In fact, it was voted one of the best of 50 cartoons of all time by different personalities in the animation industry. What it featured? Well, it featured a bunch of skeletons dancing in different ways while playing all sorts of instruments. Some of the animation of this short is used in some Halloween cartoon clips today.
