Television programs have been around for the longest time now. These programs have both entertained and educated millions upon millions of people all over the world. It's the programs that students come home to after a long day at school, and the same programs that professionals and working individuals come home to as well. It's that precious few minutes where we all can kick back, set our worries aside and cheer ourselves up after a long, hard day.

Sitcoms, or situational comedies, have been quite a popular genre when it comes to television programs. A few notable sitcoms would be F.R.I.E.N.D.S, Seinfeld, and Frasier. However, these are all sitcoms of an earlier generation. It's a brave new roster of television shows out there that aim to entertain. One of the brightest lights that are shining out there is the sitcom, How I Met Your Mother. Here are a few strong points of this show that might interest you in watching this sitcom.

1. The writing here is excellent.

If a show doesn't have some good writers employed, it's pretty much safe to say that any television program or even a movie wouldn't go so far no matter how star-studded your cast may be. With How I Met Your Mother, this isn't a problem at all since the dialogue is both humorous and witty at the same time. And on that note, the show's actors are quite right for their parts. People like Neil Patrick Harris and Alyson Hannigan further beef up this extremely talented cast that's nothing short of entertaining and hilarious.

2. Neil Patrick Harris is amazing in this show.

If you loved Doogie Howser, M.D., you're bound to love How I Met Your Mother. Who knew that Neil Patrick Harris is quite the capable comedian right? He plays Barney on the show, and he's kind of like a smarter version of Joey. If you take some time to watch the show you'll realize how funny it actually is. If this sitcom were rated at a scale of one to ten it would easily surpass an eight, or maybe a close ten.

3. There are a lot of things that can be seen in this sitcom that you can actually relate to in real life.

For a sitcom, there's actually a lot more that you can get than just a few good laughs. In How I Met Your Mother, you might realize that as you go along the season, there's actually a lot about real life that you can learn from a sitcom. Things like marriage, relationships, friendship, loyalty and trust all come into play in this sitcom. It's just a welcome addition that there's some kind of comedic twist into the stories that Architect Ted Moseby tells his children. We all desire to find the right one for all of us, but not everybody has the luxury of having a lot of fun while searching for Mrs. Right. How I Met Your Mother is more than just a barrel of laughs, it is real life with a lot more laughs added into it.
