Three Reasons Why You Should Watch Wicker Park

Everybody who's anybody is a hopeless romantic in one way or another. We have all fallen in love at some point in our lives. And there's nothing like a really good and smart romantic movie to get those gears all oiled up and ready for your next encounter with cupid's arrow.

Wicker Park is one such movie that is really thought provoking and utterly romantic. And did we mention the soundtrack of this movie is also quite awesome? Here are a few good reasons as to why you should watch Wicker Park if you haven't seen the movie yet. And if you have seen the movie, well it's always better the second time around, right?

1. Find out what it really means to be in love.

People say you know that it is true love when you do everything in your power to make that love your own. And that you'll do everything and anything you can to make that person fall in love with you too. In Aqualung's famous song, Strange and Beautiful, there's a beautiful line there that says “sometimes the last thing you want comes in first, and the first thing you want never comes.” That's what love is, really. You won't expect it till it hits you right smack in the face. Someone whom you used to abhor might just actually be that person you've been searching for all this while.

2. You might actually relate to some of the movie's messages.

You might relate to the antagonist's point of view wherein she tries so very hard to make Josh Hartnett fall in love with her. She even goes as far as assuming Diane Kruger's identity in the movie. Have you ever done something so hard to try and make someone fall in love with you? There's nothing wrong with trying your best, but there's a fine line between being honorable about it and getting what you want no matter who gets hurt in the process.

Wicker Park clearly illustrates to the viewer the difference between a hopeless romantic and a person with an obsession over one specific person. Sure, it might be cute if it's just a mild obsession, but if it's being taken too far someone's eventually bound to get hurt. And who knows, it might be even you that would get hurt.

3. Redemption, forgiveness and happiness can all be found at once.

Actions speak louder than words and in movies they definitely do speak so much louder than words. That's because soundtracks make a scene so much more dramatic leading to a greater impact on the viewer. Wicker Park is all about a movie where two lovers are separated because of one girl who is obsessed and in love with the male protagonist. Once they've found each other once again, there's no time for words since they're bodies speak for themselves. Coupled with a great song, namely Coldplay's The Scientist, everything comes full circle when they finally reunite with each other.
