Five Things We Look For In Music
Who or when music was invented is hard to tell but for sure it has indeed come a long way. Each generation has their particular brand of music. Our parents may like this certain song but we might find it boring or too old school. On the other hand, our parents my find our choice of music not music at all because all they can hear are random mumblings and lots of shouting.
Music comes in different forms. But what is music? Well, music is an art form which serves as a vehicle of self expression. Most individuals express themselves through music especially those who find it hard to speak up. If you take time to listen to the lyrics you will notice that it is trying to convey a message.
When it comes to music we have different choices; some would prefer hard core rock music while others would go for hip hop and so many more. Here are some things that we usually consider when it comes to making musical choices.
1. Artist. When we hear a particular song we usually find ourselves asking who sang the song; which band or which solo performer? Music artists credit their fame to their voices. Of course, who would want to listen to a song being sang by someone who doesn't even know how to sing. Most of us would listen to songs being sung by famous artists like Rihanna, Beyonce and many more. The more famous an artist is the more albums he or she sells.
2. Title. A song won't be a song without a title. Other than asking who the artist is we also ask about the song's title. Learning the title will help us remember the song better so whenever we are searching for it on the net all we have to do is type in the title.
3. Tune. Next thing we look for in a song is the tune. Most of the time the tune is the deciding factor for it to either become a hit or to flunk the charts. A tune that can be easily remembered and is light on the ears is usually the top choice. Composers choose tunes that go well with the lyrics as well as the message the lyrics hold.
4. Lyrics. Everyone wants to sing along to their favorite song. Knowing the lyrics will surely help someone love a particular song even more. A song with well written lyrics usually makes it to the top. It would be nice to be able to listen to a song without having a hard time figuring the lyrics out but there are songs where the lyrics get lost in all the percussion and acoustics.
5. Message. People are attracted to songs that they can relate with and this is probably the reason why songs about breaking up and second chances are a big hit among the populace. We may not notice it but when we listen to a song, we are actually listening to the message the song is trying to convey.
Everyone has different preferences so it is only natural for each one of us to prefer a particular music which is different from the others.
